Call for Papers
The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (JM-CoE) Research Centre for the Law of European Integration (ReCLEI) is pleased to announce the launch of a Call for Papers in view of the upcoming workshop “New Research in European Public Law” to be held at the New York University on 20-21 November 2025.
Topic
The Workshop brings together both early-career and established scholars affiliated with the organizing institutions (NYU Jean Monnet Center / University of Groningen / Sapienza University of Rome / ReCLEI – UnitelmaSapienza University of Rome) to discuss new and innovative research in European public law. The Workshop focuses on intensive discussion of full draft papers on any topic in European public law.
Papers may focus on topical developments and challenges in public law or rather analyze classic topics such as EU constitutionalism, fundamental rights protection and judicial review. Comparative approaches and research on Member State public law that has broader European relevance are also welcome. Papers should reflect new and original research.
Submission and selection process
Extended abstracts of approximately 750-1000 words and a short CV of max. two pages should be submitted to ReCLEI - Research Centre for the Law of European Integration (Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence) at UnitelmaSapienza University of Rome (reclei@unitelmasapienza.it), by 15 May 2025. The extended abstract should provide a provisional roadmap of the main argument, the methodology to be used, and the innovative nature of the paper.
Selected participants will be notified by 21 June 2025, and will be required to submit draft papers by 4 November 2025. Submission of a draft paper is a hard requirement to participate in the Workshop. Selected participants will receive support for travel and accommodation.
During the Workshop, participants will receive detailed feedback on their papers from the coordinators and other attending scholars. Participants may submit the papers presented at the Workshop to European Papers – A Journal on Law and Integration, subject to the usual double-blind peer review procedure.
